Description

Flourite® Black is a crushed and porous black clay substrate for planted aquariums. The natural product is best used as the sole substrate but can also be used in combination with other substrates. As the substrate is not chemically treated or coated, it does not affect the pH value of the water in any way. Once placed in the aquarium it will last for the life of the aquarium and will never need to be replaced.

Tip: Modifiers such as laterite do not need to be used when using Flourite®.

Recommendations for use:

Although Flourite® Black is pre-washed, rinse it again before use to remove any remaining dust.

After placing the substrate in the tank, add water gently and slowly to prevent the substrate from getting stirred up by the force of the water. Seachem recommends filling the aquarium by pouring water into a bowl placed on the substrate and letting it gently overflow. A slight cloudiness in the water initially is not a cause for concern. You can eliminate the cloudiness by using a mechanical filter such as a filter fleece. You can speed up the clarification process by using Seachem Clarity™.

Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:

Use the Seachem project calculator to calculate exactly how much Flourite® you need for your aquarium.
