Description

Sera Pleco Chips is a staple food in chip form for rasping and sucking bottom feeders such as Ancistrus and L-catfish in freshwater aquariums and is available in various packs.

Catfish are generally rather timid in aquariums, and some may only feed at night. They usually look for their food near the bottom. But this is where the similarities end: While some look for their food by burrowing in the substrate, others slowly scrape and suck their food from the substrate. With Pleco Chips, Sera provides a product that optimally fulfils the needs of both groups.

sera Pleco Chips is a staple food in chip form for rasping and sucking bottom feeders such as Ancistrus and L-catfish made from gently produced chips. The balanced recipe with its high fibre content (including fibres from willow bark and alder cones) supports healthy digestion and development. As the fast-sinking crisps, which become supple in the water, retain their shape for at least 24 hours, they allow catfish, which are mainly nocturnal, to eat slowly, which corresponds to their natural eating habits, without polluting the water.

Feeding recommendation:

Feed sera Pleco Chips 1-2 times a day in as small quantities as the animals can consume in 24 hours. If food remains are still visible after a day, you should siphon them off and reduce the amount of food at the next feeding. Once opened, the food tin should always be tightly closed and used up within a few months to prevent loss of freshness.

Tip:

Set aside a fasting day at regular intervals to boost their metabolism and promote species-appropriate feeding behaviour through active foraging. The main food can be supplemented with other sera foods to vary their diet optimally.

Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:

With sera Pleco Chips you can feed your bottom dwellers slowly, as they prefer - and as per their feeding habits.
