Anubias Bacopa caroliniana
Carolina Fettblatt (Fat-Leaf)
Out of StockOur shop no longer sells this product.
The easy maintenance, slow-growing Bacopa caroliniana, the Carolina Fettblatt, also known as the Large Fettblatt, comes from North America. The 30 - 60cm high plant is perfect for the middle ground to background and tolerates soft to hard water. Suitable for cold water tanks too.
This slow-growing stem plant is quite undemanding and quite robust and fits well into the middle ground or background of your aquarium. The large Bacopa caroliniana does not have to be cut back often, but if you want it to grow bushy and branch out nicely, you have to use scissors every now and then.
The slightly thicker, fleshy leaves of this plant are light green. If the nitrate content of the aquarium water is low, the new shoots can turn bronze; if there is little phosphate in the water, the plant at the top tends to turn pink.
You don't necessarily have to use CO2 fertilisation, but by doing so the plant grows faster and more beautifully. It needs a good supply of nutrients and likes medium to strong light.
You can really easily multiply this plant. You put cut shoots in the ground - that's it. They take root there and then grow all by themselves with little maintenance.
We also offer the XL version of Bacopa caroliniana for sale here in our online shop. This is a large fat leaf that has already grown larger.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
Bacopa caroliniana is a wonderful stem plant for your aquarium and is even suitable as a pointer plant for the nutrient content of the water.
