The Dupla pH electrode set basic is used for permanent and precise pH value determination in freshwater aquariums and has laboratory quality. The connection is made via a BNC connection. The pH electrode set basic is suitable for all commercially available pH measuring and control devices with BNC connection. The pH measuring and control device is set to the electrode-specific parameters via calibration. The refillable Dupla pH electrode with double diaphragm is only one functional link in a pH measuring chain, which consists of a measuring / control device and a probe. These two components, probe (electrode) and measuring / control device, have to be matched to each other in order to work precisely. After the first use, the calibration is repeated, then every 6 weeks. If the electrode asymmetry can no longer be calibrated, the KCL solution can be replaced. To store the electrode, the protective cap is filled with 3-molar KCL solution and carefully placed on the tip of the electrode. The diaphragm and the glass membrane are sensitive to dirt and algae. The result is a slow reaction of the electrode. Cleaning is recommended every 4-6 weeks. Ideally, place the pH electrode in a dark place with little water movement in the aquarium. A bright location can lead to algae growth on the sensitive glass tip of the electrode. Too strong flow leads to fluctuating measurement results. The pH electrode is a “double junction” electrode. This is less sensitive to environmental influences than a standard electrode.
