The relatively easy-to-maintain Cryptocoryne crispatula var. 'Balansae', also found commercially as Balansas, comes from Southeast Asia and tolerates soft to very hard water. The rosette plant, which grows from 20 to approx. 60 cm in the middle ground and really shows its full advantage at the background of the aquarium.

The medium-green Cryptocoryne crispatula var. 'Balansae' has remarkably narrow leaves with a very prominent mid-ribbed green-green. Balansas Cryptocoryne from Southeast Asia is up to 60 cm high and also correspondingly wide. It is therefore more of a case for the background in the aquarium.

The rosette plant grows rather slowly and can deal with very hard water just as well with medium-hard or soft water. CO2 fertilisation does not necessarily have to be present, and Cryptocoryne crispatula var. 'Balansae' grows well even under low to medium intensity light.

Cryptocoryne crispatula var. 'Balansae' reproduces through daughter plants, which attach to the base of its rosette, where the leaves grow from the soil. You can simply pluck it off and plant it elsewhere if you want to multiply the plant.
