Anubias Riccia Fluitans CUP

The very easy to maintain Riccia fluitans is only 2 to approx. 5 cm high and is perfect on roots and stones in the foreground and middle ground and tolerates soft to hard water. Suitable for cold water.

The Riccia fluitans has light green very fine shoots. It is actually a floating plant that forms dense beds on the water surface over time. Riccia fluitans, for example, was often used to breed aquarium fish. Fighting fish and string fish like to use the moss pads as the basis for their nests, and young fish will find a great hiding places in the fine structures.

However, the moss shows its real strength as ground cover in the foreground of the aquarium. Tied to flat stones, it quickly forms a great light green fine carpet in the aquarium. Since Riccia does not grow on the stones, you have to cut it back and tie it regularly. It works best with a hairnet or nylon thread. Sticking with plant glue also works, but you have to work very carefully here.

Riccia fluitans is a robust and very easy to care for water moss. It tolerates soft to hard water and can be used in aquariums with or without CO2 fertilisation. Even under less intense light, the upholstery grows densely.

The moss is totally easy to multiply: pluck a little something off the grown bed and re-tie.

The moss in the Olibetta shop was grown in a sterile cup in the plant laboratory. Here you don't get snails or other unwanted aquarium guests such as parasites, and it is free from bacteria and other pathogens and also from algae spores. You can, therefore, use the untreated moss directly in aquariums with sensitive shrimp without prior watering.
