The JBL Algol is a water conditioner for highly effective control of algae in the freshwater aquarium and available in various units.

Thorough and long-term algae control
Excessive algae formation occurs whenever there is an excess of nutrients such as phosphates and nitrates in the water that are not otherwise utilised. If all other causes, such as the location of the aquarium (daylight increases the algae production enormously!) can be excluded in the last instance, only then the next step to problem-solving are the water conditioners of JBL. A long-term algae control always works in two steps: The algae should be fought with the algae agent Algol and in the second step, the nutrients are tied off safely. For this JBL PhosEx ultra or JBL PhosEx direct is very well suited. Also, the use of algae-eating animals such as catfish, shrimp and snails can form a very good supplement.

Before the application, a partial water change of 30% is recommended. JBL Algol should only be used in the morning. Before use, the bottle should be shaken vigorously for about 1 minute. The required amount of JBL Algol is added to the water at a point with good water movement (eg filter outlet). Caution: Dead algae pollute the water and must be removed mechanically (safety net, etc.)! An initial haze indicates the effectiveness of the product and disappears within 2-24 hours. JBL Algol is well tolerated by fish and micro-organisms when used and dosed properly. During the algae cure, care should be taken to ensure sufficient water movement and ventilation and thus a sufficient oxygen content.

  • 10 ml / 40 litres of water
  • Example: 60 litres aquarium - 15 ml

With frequent replenishment, sensitive plants can be damaged! During the treatment, sufficient oxygen content has to be ensured by water movement and ventilation. Do not filter over coal! UV-C water clarifiers should be turned off during treatment.

Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
Excessive and dying algae not only look ugly, but they also pollute the water. JBL Algol provides a quick remedy.
