Milwaukee MW700-WP Smart LUX Meter

The ergonomic MW700-WP Smart LUX Meter is a portable device for measuring light levels from 0 to 50,000 lux*. This handy meter can be used in a wide range of applications, including aquariums, aquaponics, hydroponics, agriculture and horticulture.

The meter is equipped with a smart silicon light sensor. Attached to a 1.3 m cable, the sensor is waterproof, allowing light intensity to be checked and measured even at the bottom of the aquarium. The compact, easy-to-carry device also features a digital LCD display. It measures in three resolution settings, 1, 10 and 100 lux, with an accuracy of ± 6% of the reading, ± 1 digit. In continuous operation, the LUX meter’s battery can last for up to 150 hours, and a warning appears when the battery level is low. A 9 V battery is included.

*Lux is a unit that indicates the density of light falling on a surface as perceived by the human eye. 1 lux = 1 lumen/m².

Recommended use in aquariums

Place the light sensor on a stable surface in the aquarium. Make sure there is a suitable distance between the meter and the light source to avoid interference. Switch the device on by pressing the “ON/OFF” button. Then press one of the buttons on the right to select the required scale range according to the light intensity. For LUX measurements in aquariums, the 2000-19,999 scale is recommended. Wait approx. 1 second before reading the values so the measurement can stabilise.
