Tropic Marin pH Test Fresh Water

Tropic Marin's pH Test Fresh Water is a test for checking the pH values in freshwater aquariums. All the necessary test cuvettes, reagents, dosing syringes and colour cards are included in the kit. The reagents can be bought as refill packs after they have been used up.

The pH of freshwater aquariums

The pH value is one of the most important measurements in an aquarium. It shows how acidic or basic the water is. Pure water is neutral and has a pH of 7. If the pH is below 7, the aquarium water is acidic. If the pH values are above 7, the water is alkaline.

It is essential to check the pH values of aquarium water! In freshwater aquariums, the optimum pH value is between 6.5 and 7.2.

Instructions for use:

1. Shake the bottle vigorously before use.
2. First, rinse the glass cuvette with tap water. Then rinse the glass cuvette several times with aquarium water.
3. Fill the glass cuvette with 5 ml of aquarium water. Use the dosing syringe for this.
4. Add 1 drop of pH test reagent, close the glass cuvette with the stopper and shake the solution.
5. Place the glass cuvette on the white inner circles on the colour chart. Compare the colour of the contents of the glass cuvette with the colours on the colour chart by looking into the open cuvette from above.
6. Read the measured pH value using the corresponding colour field.
7. After measuring, wash the cuvette and syringe with tap water.

If the pH levels in the aquarium are too high or too low, you can use Tropic Marin Triple Buffer or Tropic Marin Liquid Buffer. A regular partial water change is also very important!
